Behind the Curtain: Bush To Continue National Emergency

Fri Sep 14, 2007 at 07:46:04 AM PDT

Patraeus, Patraeus, Patraeus.....

Hopefully everybody realizes by now that the Bush Policy is a 2 headed serpent. The one that is public, and the one that is private. A couple of months ago a National Security Presedential Directive 51 established Bush, or any president from now on, as the dictator in the case of an emergency. That might explain why Bush issued a notice continuing the national emergency while every one was focused on Patraeus. I doubt the MSM will pick up on it.

See you in prison

Sat Sep 01, 2007 at 10:36:05 AM PDT

Quietly, with little mention in the press, the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive was signed in May 2007.  This directive places all governmental power in the hands of the President in the case of a catastrophic emergency (as defined by him alone).  It also allows him to take control of the private and nonprofit sectors.  It effectively abolishes the checks and balances built into the Constitution and demolishes the Bill of Rights.  This is, of course, necessary to keep us safe in case of a national disaster.  The "Unitary Executive" would be able to act quickly and decisively, without any interference from those other two annoying branches of government, slow-moving and contentious as they are.

Another 'False Flag' Red Flag

Sun Jul 22, 2007 at 08:23:06 AM PDT

In Friday's Portland Oregonian, there was an item about Representative Peter DeFazio (D,OR) being denied access to White House plans concerning the continuity of the U.S Government after a terrorist attack contained in The National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive (National Security Presidential Directive NSPD-51/Homeland Security Presidential Directive HSPD-20). Why is this of interest? Why would Representative DeFazio want to see these plans?

Because Representative DeFazio is a member of U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security

Bush can legally take over the Federal Government if Chertof's gut is right

Sun Jul 15, 2007 at 01:33:34 PM PDT

While I don't want to seem like the tin foil type, I have to wonder.
The National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive, which was put in place on May 9 2007, apparently allows the president to take over the Federal Government. (h/t to e pluribus unum) http://www.rubyan.com/...

Now I'm terrified.

The Decider Becomes the Dictator

Sun Jun 10, 2007 at 05:48:40 AM PDT

Recently, while reading around the web, I came upon something that shocked me so much that I have called and e-mailed just about everyone in Washington
who I thought might have an idea about the article.  But alas, no one in government could say that they have knowledge of it except perhaps one or two Senator's or Congressional offices said 'well I think we have heard of that'.

Naturally, something as minor as Presidential Directives and Homeland Security Directives don't have to be rinsed through any office cycle so maybe it's just me reading a horror story.  Besides, it was on a Canadian web site so why should our law makers find it - BUT IT'S ON THE WHITE HOUSE WEB SITE TOO!

National Security Presidential Directive 51

Wed Jun 06, 2007 at 06:10:07 PM PDT

On May 9, 2007, the White House issued National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD) 51. This directive establishes "a comprehensive national policy on the continuity of Federal Government structures and operations" in case of a "catastrophic emergency." This kind of directive is not new. But the particulars of this directive are, and we, as citizens, should be very concerned.

PLEASE READ: Info about 5/9 Presidential Directive

Wed May 30, 2007 at 07:13:15 PM PDT

I know word of Bush's Homeland Security directive issued on May 9 has been making the rounds on the 'nets and the radio, but I don't think it's being talked about enough.  Word needs to be spread to everyone you know. I'm sure there must have been some discussion about it here already, but I probably missed it, and I think it's important enough to repeat.  We must get the word out about this.  No one in the MSM is covering it (I'm shocked, I tell you, just shocked!).

Tonight a friend sent me these two links (and she sent the info to Countdown):

Link to presidential directive: http://www.whitehouse.gov/...

Link to WorldNetDaily article: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/...

Now, I know that WorldNetDaily is a right-wing outlet, but this article is a pretty good summary of the directive without having to wade through the actual document.  Below are some excerpts:

Bush Directive Might “Not Be That Bad Of An Idea.”

Wed May 30, 2007 at 02:03:08 PM PDT

Before getting to the source of that curious title quote, it's time to discuss this rationally. The liberal blogosphere has been abuzz with concern, and sometimes outright panic, over "President" Bush's National Security Directive on continuity of government. Some see it as a clear step towards fascism, and the possibility that Bush intends to remain in office after his term expires, in 2009. It's not what it seems.

May 9th Presidential Directive: "Nothing New"

Tue May 29, 2007 at 09:27:08 PM PDT

The good folks at TPMmuckraker have been getting the same alarmist e-mails that may of us have been getting about the national security directive, and asked a number of experts what to make of it.

The consensus amongst experts seems to be that the directive, aimed at establishing "continuity of government" after a major disaster, is not new nor does the policy seem to expand executive power.

In fact, Mike German, the policy counsel to the ACLU’s Washington office told me that an executive continuity plan actually might "not be that bad of an idea."

Executive power expert, NYU law professor David Golove, also sent me an email saying the directive didn’t appear to be a power grab....

The concept of continuity of government applies to all branches of government. Christopher Kelleye, a presidency expert and political science professor at Miami University Ohio told me in an email that he didn’t see any new powers listed in the directive, but wondered why Congress hasn’t done the same thing.

Contingency planning is not the equivalent of actually planning or plotting to create a disaster. Consider this a public service announcement to help you rest more easily tonight. And as a reminder to not believe everything you read on the Internet.

ACLU: Bush Continuity of Gov't Exec Order No Big Deal

Tue May 29, 2007 at 02:15:07 PM PDT

Can we please stop with the hysteria now?

When a presidential directive appeared on the White House’s Web site on May 9, seemingly expanding the president's powers after a catastrophic attack, readers began emailing us asking why there had been no uproar in the media or amongst civil liberties groups.

Executive power expert, NYU law professor David Golove, also sent me an email saying the directive didn’t appear to be a power grab.

And perhaps a certain diary on the recommended list needs to be unrecommended, eh?

Will Bush walk away in 2009?

Tue May 29, 2007 at 12:03:22 AM PDT

Obviously, the Democratic Party has chosen to be an impotent, faux-opposition party in this bad theater they call "The Two Party System".

We all see now that impeachment is indeed completely "off the table".  So are a lot of things, like defunding the war, and giving any opposition at all to "Mr. 28 percent".

Many of us have had a difficult time picturing how it's going to go in January of 2009.  It's hard to imagine Bush and Cheney just walking away from their unpopular but apparently supernaturally powerful positions as the leaders of the Only Superpower On Earth.

Well on May 9, Bush quietly signed a directive that may ensure that he and Tricky Dick II don't have to hand over the reigns.

It's called the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive and provides Bush with everything he needs to provide "continuance" of, well, whatever he wants to "continue".

National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive

Sun May 27, 2007 at 12:43:10 PM PDT

On May 9th George W. Bush quietly signed a presidential directive, the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive. This directive according to Jerome Corsi (co-author of the book critical of John Kerry's service in Vietnam, Unfit for Command) at World Net Daily

loosely defines "catastrophic emergency" as "any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions."

When the president determines a catastrophic emergency has occurred, the president can take over all government functions and direct all private sector activities to ensure we will emerge from the emergency with an "enduring constitutional government."

Bush busts Constitution

Sat May 26, 2007 at 10:18:57 AM PDT

Just saw this on a listserv in N. California and thought it deserved to be passed along. I would encourage all of you to repost far and wide and to contact your representatives about it. As I read it, Georgie boy has just appointed himself dictator at will. He must be stopped.

Published as a "Presidential Directive," the National Continuity Policy allows Bush to declare dictatorial powers during a "Catastrophic Emergency" (meaning any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions).

I was a history major in college and have never heard of anything like it in our country--not even in times of war. The fact that he granted himself these powers, and in full stealth mode, makes it even more chilling.

Just another day in paradise - National Continuity Policy

Fri May 25, 2007 at 08:02:59 AM PDT

George has another grab at absolute power with this National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive.

So here's a scenario. It is September 2008. The Democratic party nominee for President is leading the Republican nominee 65 to 28 in the polls.

Al-Qaeda hates America and are planning attacks. We are fighting them over there (still) and the numbers haven't changed. We're still losing a hundred soldiers a month plus upwards of 1,000 Iraqis a month. We're turning the corner, if we just give it some more time there is light at the end of the tunnel. The insurgency is in it's last throes.

CNN: Bush declassifies Al Qaeda intelligence

Wed May 23, 2007 at 09:35:39 AM PDT

This is all getting a little creepy.  Things seem to be coming to a head this week, with Bush declaring himself all-powerful emporer in the event of a national emergency and the newly announced "covert" war within Iran.

What are they gearing up for?

Now another unbelievable tidbit.  Bush just declassified intelligience for an upcoming speech.  He is to reveal with great fanfare this week that Al Qaeda has plans to use Iraq as a home base in order to launch attacks on the United States.

How the Republicans plan to win the next election and kill Americans at the same time.

After reading this document http://www.whitehouse.gov/...
Or if you can not get it here it can be acquired from C and L Just putting out such document is grounds for impeachment. May be its time to buy ammo and get the old gun sited in. no one should ever even be aloud to write such document. It is written to give bush the power too over throw the government, in more ways than one. This looks like a document a dictator would write. The document below the fold .

Bush declares control of all 3 gov branches if any crisis? Last Update.

This has me worried.

National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive
NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/NSPD 51
HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE/HSPD-20

Subject: National Continuity Policy
May 9, 2007

Purpose

(1) This directive establishes a comprehensive national policy on the continuity of Federal Government structures and operations and a single National Continuity Coordinator responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of Federal continuity policies. This policy establishes "National Essential Functions," prescribes continuity requirements for all executive departments and agencies, and provides guidance for State, local, territorial, and tribal governments, and private sector organizations in order to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national continuity program that will enhance the credibility of our national security posture and enable a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a national emergency.

Presidential Directive 51: Blueprint for Dictatorship

Fri May 11, 2007 at 10:03:09 PM PDT

(Cross-posted at Newsfare.)

Released Wednesday, May 9, 2007 by the White House, this executive order, the National Security Presidential Directive/NSPD 51, uses the principle of the Unitary Executive, as propounded by Dick Cheney, to seize absolute power in the U.S. any time the president feels like putting the plan into effect.

In what follows, italicized text represents my paranoid ideas. I hope all such stupid, alarmist fantasies turn out to be entirely unjustified.

Get ready for a catastrophic terrorist attack in October of 2008, with the unfortunately necessary indefinite postponement of elections after a Presidential declaration of the state of emergency due to the current devastating circumstances.

More after the jump...
